FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Nebula is for better or worse a very straight-laced, serious, and honest person.

She's an imposing figure standing at 5'11" and with a muscular, firm build. Literally, as much of her is shaped in weaponry and steel. Nebula is both organic and mechanized but the precise amount of how much is difficult to tell - but there are some more obvious moments. A computer stands out on the left side of her skull as does a panel atop her head which would most usually be covered in hair. Her left arm is also entirely mechanical, but on first glance could just be a clothed piece as it looks very much like a normal one. Until you actually really look at it and see that her left arm is a dozen or so thick wires that shape themselves into looking the part.

The true color of Nebula's skin is at points hard to tell. While she is mostly blue with spots of purple, the blue skin is patchwork in both tone and sharp seams. Much of her skin is also synthetic, but it capable of both feeling like normal skin and feeling for her. It is less obvious that the blue skin is not natural than the purple, which stands out against it. The "seams" of her skin for those who take defter notice are more like scars where she's been taken apart and put back together.

Nebula's eyes are not a natural feature of her species and have also been replaced. Their current appearance is of dark black orbs that reflect nothing back emotionally. This makes her not an easy book to read - unless she's crying (which surprisingly, in this version of her life, she was allowed to keep her tear glands).

Aside from an alien appearance, Nebula carries herself with confidence and aloofness. Her expressions are usually minuet and more often range from scowls to frowns. She's still learning to smile, okay. She has what the kids might call resting bitch face and the tone she takes is one to match it. Nebula's voice is a husky, deep mix that at points has a mechanical undertone (think Marilyn Monroe/Clint Eastwood had a baby who was made partly robot). She rarely takes a soft tone and as someone who was not taught to lie - and lying would mean death - does not say anything she does not mean. And as she was not given a gentle hand in life gentlessness is not the first thing that comes to mind.

She is trying, however, to become a better person. So while she often appears as this cool, hard-faced soldier when she realizes she's done something wrong she gets awkward. When she feels more self-conscious or shy she can look away (usually related to trying to do said nice or positive things). And when she feels backed into a corner she is quick to shout and get angry. So while she does appear mostly reserved and too serious, there are these moments that her honesty shows other sides of her.

As a note, some of her icons may have an eye piece around her left eye. This is no longer the case and these are just used for expression. Unless someone has special senses the only things that are obviously mechanical on her body are her arm, the computer, and the head plate. Comic icons for flavor (and keeping to MCU-styled variantS).

SHARD
An opal crystal that looks like it contains a nebulous galaxy. Slightly rough in some edges, it resembles the flame shape of the guardians symbol (or ravagers). Her shard rests in the middle of her chest as the symbol would on their uniform.

ASPECT TATTOO
On first glance, one might not be able to tell Nebula's tattoo from the dark seams that make up the patchwork of the rest of her skin. Closer examination show it's a dark purple versus black and appears almost burnt. The tattoo rests in the crook of her mostly organic hand's thumb and pointer finger.

ABILITIES & SKILLS
GALAXY-CLASS KILLER Nebula was taken at a very young age from her home planet and was raised as one of Thanos's children — and all of his children were made into being soldiers, his living weapons. Thanos spared no expense in teaching his children the ins-and-outs of the universe and his believed cruelty it gave its inhabitants. In this way, Nebula spent her childhood being beaten, starved, and being told that everything she was made was weak and to survive she must be strong.

Thus, the only life she knew was that of violence. Thanos did not foster love and happiness and made sure his children could tear into the guts of the galaxy without faltering. From the age of a kindergartner she was taught how to fight and kill to the death. His training involved all forms of weaponry from mundane to exotic and all forms of martial arts and espionage.

While she would always be second to her sister, Gamora, Nebula became a killer in her own right. She's helped to kill thousands of people and became known and feared not just as the Daughter of Thanos but as the "biggest sadist in the galaxy". Always in competition with Gamora she would say this fact is because her victims screams could be heard across the galaxy; Gamora said it was was because she took too long with them.

While this life is solidly behind her and Nebula has formed her morality as a Guardian - to protect and to avoid killing (for as many reasons as you can think) - this has not dampened her skill on the battlefield. She is still a former Daughter of Thanos and everything about her was made to excel in violence, cruelty, and murder. For most people, she's still good enough to take them down without much of a fight*.

*This does not take into account people with godlike powers, various magics, and other mortalities. And also the point of fun in roleplay. While I'll never downplay she is supposed to be skilled in combat I am always willing to work with just about anything!
LUPHOMOID CYBORG Nebula comes from a humanoid species called the Luphomoid from planet Luphom... But if you ask her anymore about it, she couldn't tell you. She never looked into it and didn't care to (and we here apply the canon that she is the last of her kind and her planet was razed). This means that if her species could perform extreme feats she doesn't know it... Because all of that abuse and torment she went through in training became literal torture. When she failed or showed weakness of any kind a piece of her would be replaced by machinery - the first thing her father did when he took her in was replace her ears when she failed to hear him. Again and again, hundreds of times, Nebula was taken apart and put back together until she was a horrific medley of mechanical and organic parts.

And, no, she could not tell you if she is more organic than metal or vice versa - but she wagers it's the more metal than not one.

Which is to say, Nebula herself could not necessarily tell you if her strength is natural to her species or another enhancement. And there are some things, like her hearing, that have been so long replaced she's forgotten what it felt like naturally. As her skills were honed to be able to kill, so was her body. Every piece of her, every perceived weakness, was replaced with something far more deadly than it would be otherwise.

While the exact ways in which Nebula is "enhanced" isn't known we do know that a very simple baseline the logic follows from this exchange:

On a more serious note the feats we know she's capable of are as follows:

• She has enhanced hearing and sight that exceed human and animal capability. Given they are both mechanically enhanced, it is possibly better than many species.
• She has enhanced strength that is not just seen in tearing off a man's arm, but in being able to punch through an M-Ships windshield with a single hit (which we see ships of this variety can take major artillery fire and survive the first blast). She is also shown to be able to go head-to-head with her father even if she cannot individually defeat him.
• Her durability is also enhanced and furthered by the fact that her skeleton is essentially a metal structure now. This durability shows itself in the way she can withstand explosions without a scratch and also land on her feet from the same explosion after dropping several hundred feet. It takes people or objects of extreme power to damage her (Thanos, multiple artillery/explosions, Adam Warlock). We see through the special that Earth guns are seen as ticklish toys to other members of the Guardians and the same would seemingly apply to her.
• Nebula's agility is seen to allow her to perform feats in aerial maneuvers and jumping. Distances that would be impossible by Olympic athletes are seen as no trouble for her.
• She formerly had tempersteel claws installed into both of her hands. As the left hand has been lost, the one in her right still remains. While it can be used as a weapon, this is mostly used for climbing assistance.
• Part of her brain is replaced by a computer. While the exact specifics of it aren't entirely known we do know it has access to her memories. She is capable of displaying this memories in projection form. The computer is also capable of processing information from other computer components rapidly and likely acts a storehouse to keep information that surpasses human capability (given like... it's essentially a memory bank).
• We do not know if she needs any "charging" capabilities, but we do know that she requires less food and sleep than an organic being. She does not tire easily, but is not incapable of it. She is still capable of dreaming.

These enhancements do have some drawbacks and while some of them and they are as follows:

• Her mind is literally part computer and her body is mostly mechanical. It is entirely possible these things can fail and/or be hacked into. Especially in the former part, this is a problem in Kenos.
• These enhancements mean that she is in a constant, persistent amount of pain every single day.
• Despite being more mechanical than organic she still has a dubious amount of organic needs. One such thing is that we do see that she does find it difficult to breathe in a place that lacks oxygen.
• If a part breaks or is destroyed she's kind of shit out of luck on replacements.
• The rule of funny. Guardians is often very loose in some of its rules and always applies the rule of "what's the most fun". Meaning that sometimes someone can take a hi whereas a similar one they fall to. In example, we see on Ego's plane Nebula lands on her feet and on Arete she's dumped in a hole (though she may or may not still be unconscious). Essentially, keeping to the themes of the franchise it's more fun to have something fail if it's funny... so. Sorry, Nebula.
REGENERATIVE HEALING Thankfully, Nebula doesn't super need to worry about a good mechanic on Kenos just yet... depending on how you look at it. One of her father's upgrades was a chip that accelerated healing and would repair most injuries rapidly. Except, like most things her father did, the healing is incredibly painful and possibly worse.

How long it can take to "boot up" appears to depend on the injuries. A punch to the face is quick whereas smashing her body takes a few minutes and a horrific remolding of her body. Sometimes unnecessarily, bones bend and break and reform themselves. In some of the side novels Nebula describes it as painful especially because she still has normal, actual bones and muscles under that and they do not refit organically. She heals, but the entire process is painful and she's still feeling it when it's finishing up.

While the amount of damage she can take is extensive: half of her body being crushed, burned in explosions, her neck clearly broken, etc she is not wholly invincible she is just damn near indestructible. It takes someone who knows her weakness to be able to do lasting damage or more obvious maneuvers. If you manage to cut off a limb she cannot simply reattach it... And it does appear shooting where her heart is will kill her as Nebula does that to herself.

In the case of Kenos this ability isn't gone but it is slower the more grievous the injuries are. She won't be getting back up to stab someone if they crush her with a building, for example, and like most things anything used will be for the sake of furthering a story. Essentially, yes she'll be really hard to kill and difficult to move (all that metal!), but also what's the point of having a horrific healing capability if you don't inflict on people.

OUT OF CHARACTER
Writing Style: Normally I use [ brackets ] but I am happy to match. Tend to be heavy on introspection especially with Nebula to make up for lack of dialogue.

Backtagging: To an extent! I can have lulls myself, but if tags are consistently once every 2 weeks or longer I may decline further plotting.

Threadhopping: When/if appropriate.

Offensive Subjects: Preferably avoid objectification in the sense of "if I lose my arm/organ/etc it's nothing". I'm not sure how to say it but consistent demeaning of extreme trauma? Avoid auditory descriptions of breaking bones and other injuries.

IN CHARACTER
Physical Violence: Yes. I am happy to do any kind of fight thread with clear communication. Unfortunately, I've had bad experiences in the past so if we cannot talk OOCly about what we both want/outcomes I'll probably decline it with you. It's not you it's me.

Death/Dissipation: Possibly! This isn't a no, but it's going to be something I do sparingly and what feels right for the plot at hand.

Physical Affection: Yes, but expect awkwardness.

Shipping/Sex: ... Yes, but expect awkwardness and a long haul. Since it's been said that romantic feelings are ones she wouldn't know how to deal with, I do play she hasn't had any experience with it. Given the vast diversity of the world she knows gender wouldn't much matter to her though she is female leaning. But to learn any of that is to exoskeleton it and I'm sorry to anyone she falls for.

Mental/Communion: Nebula very much dislikes communion and would rather people not. OOCly, please knock on her mental door and annoy her all you like.

Offensive Subjects: None from her! She will respond poorly to anyone who blatantly harms children (especially if they show no remorse)... But she herself is a walking trauma book and tends to say it freely so I'm sorry.
